I fell down an entire flight of stairs breaking my neck and cracking two vertebrae in my back. Being immobilized and unable to get out, I approached my Personal Trainer, Alex Lipford, about developing a home workout program for me that would keep me active, but not challenge my neck or back. My neurosurgeon reminded me that one wrong move could confine me to a wheelchair for life.
Alex came through for me, and in just 3 months I was taking my boat out and swimming on Masonboro Island. Alex has also been instrumental in relieving the residual pain in my neck by using yoga and myofascial relaxation techniques. She has literally made me better than I was before the accident. At 70 years old that is no small task.
I’ve been working with Alex Lipford for just about 8 months. I’ve been doing the fitness thing on my own for the past 5 years, with varying degrees of success. I’d lost about 70 lbs 2 years ago, then gained about 20 of those lbs back before I started training with Alex. I’ve since lost most of that weight, but gained more muscle tone than I’ve ever had before.
Despite losing all that weight before, I’ve never felt this comfortable in my body. Alex is a great trainer, not only because she helps me get results, but she teaches me about why each exercise works and how exactly I’m working my body. Losing weight is one thing, but learning to love your body is much more fulfilling. And she’s helping me get there.
I always look forward to our sessions, not only because she’s a great trainer, but because she’s personable and easy to talk to. She’s always willing to answer any question I have about eating healthy or trying different exercises. She’s extremely knowledgeable and if she doesn’t know something, she always researches the answers to my questions. I think the best part of working with her is not that I’m seeing results, but that I know WHY I’m seeing them. She explains why each exercise or diet choice is important and is very adamant about doing everything the healthy way.
Alex is a very motivational trainer, and I’m very glad to be working with her.
I started with Alex just over a year ago with only one goal in mind, to gain weight. A year later and 15 pounds heavier, we did just that. I am now the leanest and healthiest I've been in my whole life. She helped me understand the hard work and determination it took to achieve the goals I wanted. She pushed me when I needed it and was always there when I had questions. She is an excellent trainer! I am now a trainer myself and owe a lot to Alex for helping me fall in love with the fitness lifestyle.
I have worked with several trainers over the past few years, and I'm beyond grateful I finally found one who has actually helped me surpass my goals. After going off on my own for a while, I saw Alex on WECT News with a client of hers and was blown away.
Alex worked with me for 30-minute sessions twice a week and I must say that Alex is extremely knowledgeable in many styles of training. I plan on staying with her as long as it's possible. I definitely would refer her to my friends for any of there fitness goals. Alex helped me improve my strength, endurance, and flexibility. Most importantly she saved my life in away. I no longer need to take medications to bring my blood sugar levels back to normal and I'm off my blood pressure medication also!
After many months of not getting the results I wanted, I decided to get a personal trainer. What a difference it has already made in helping me get the most out of my workouts. My current trainer is Alex Lipford, who has made it her journey to help me put in the time and energy to get in shape. She listens and encourages me at every session and always challenges me to give it my all. She has helped me positively develop my mindset, and I have changed from a person who thinks I can, too, I know I can!
I have been working with Alex for a few weeks now. Since then, I've lost 9lbs, can fit into smaller jeans, gained some muscle, and confidence. She's both professional and fun. She uses a pace I can keep up with and builds me from there, which I like because trainers in the past had pushed me when I wasn't ready, and I quit. I have no desire or intention of leaving Alex. I am excited to see what my body will look like and do after my sessions.
I have been training with Alex for about nine months in preparation for my first competition in the Gold's Classic. Alex has been by my side through my entire journey to the stage and never showed any doubt in my capabilities. Not only has worked out with Alex transformed my physique, but she has also helped me develop confidence in myself and what I can achieve. I am amazed at what I have been able to accomplish with her guidance. Alex shows a high level of dedication to her clients not only in the gym but with text messages checking in and answering any questions. She takes the time to get to know her client's goals, likes and dislikes to create a workout that is enjoyable and effective.
I look forward to days I train with her because I know the exercise is going to be new and challenging. I am 100% confident that no matter what happens on stage, I am the best possible version of myself thanks to her!
Pleading for help in losing my baby weight and becoming overall healthier. My third and last child was born in January, and I started with Alex in March. Within the eight months of Alex working with me to reach my fitness goals, I have lost over 30 pounds, 8 inches in my waist, and significantly decreased my percentage of body fat. Not being a fitness expert at all, Alex has taught me so much about how my body and muscles operate. She takes the time to listen to what you want to accomplish during your workout and always wants to be sure that you are comfortable with weights being used. Before every new exercise, she will demonstrate how to use the machine or whatever crazy thing she has you doing! Yes, I laugh at myself many times because I feel ridiculous, but whatever the workout is, it sure does get the job done! Countless moments of the right kind of sore! When I go to the gym on my own, she will give me exercises to do, including the weight I should be using and how many reps. Plus, she provides nutritional facts and ways to eat healthily, but I have a love for cake, and she agrees that some now and then won't hurt! I had no idea that going to the gym and working out was so much fun. Thanks to Alex, I can go, workout, and feel confident that whatever I am doing, I am doing something and becoming a healthier and better me!
When I began my training sessions with Alex almost four months ago, we started working on my goals:
Leaner core, defined arms, and shapely legs—very typical for a woman my age. Alex showed me several
exercises to perform in the gym, using various equipment such as dumbbells, barbells, TRX bands,
weighted balls, weighted machines, and even my body weight; and taught me the accurate form to
Ensure that I did not injure myself. From the very beginning, she was very personable and concise in her
instructions, making her easy to work with and dispelling any intimidations and anxieties I had at the
time, as I had not worked out in a gym for many years.
When I revealed to Ms. Lipford that I was studying to be a personal trainer, she readily agreed to teach
me exercises and routines that I could share with both in-home and in-gym clients. I have since certified
with the American Council on Exercise and have greatly enhanced my personal repertoire of exercises
under her tutelage. She is still my trainer and is still teaching me valuable and creative workouts to keep
both myself and my clients engaged and on track.
